According to Amanda Teng, founder of Singapore’s first vegan grocer, Everyday Vegan Grocer, Singapore’s first vegan grocer, Singapore’s vegan movement is a rising tide. Her store at 43 Haji Lane is often buzzing with curious, open-minded young residents keen on exploring a compassionate and sustainable lifestyle.

Being a niche in the retail sector is not as challenging as one imagines. Everyday Vegan Grocer has built a community of enthusiastic, loyal supporters who have been its backbone since its inception.

She thanks her customers: “Their support is not just a sales metric; it’s the wind beneath our wings, propelling us toward our dream of establishing Everyday Vegan as a beacon of veganism in the region.”

Her initial foray into perishables began after a heartening trip to Australia's World Vegan Day festival in 2018. Amidst a whirlwind of learning—from digital marketing, to website building to logistics— her very first brick-and-mortar store came to life at the Grandstand Mall on World Vegan Day on November 1, 2020. It has been an incredible journey bringing the vegan lifestyle closer to people's hearts and homes to embrace a life that is healthier, kinder, and more compassionate.

Growing up in a Buddhist household, vegetarianism was second nature to her. Her transition to veganism was sparked by an unsettling revelation about the dairy and egg industries—particularly the fate of male chicks in the egg industry. She resonated with their pain due to her bond with her pet lovebird, Happy. She started a blog, SGVegan and in 2017, she took a leap of faith and founded Everyday Vegan, fulfilling her dream of building a platform that supports a cruelty-free lifestyle. She quotes:

I envision a future where animals are no longer part of the human food chain, and I’m devoted to making this a reality
— Amanda Teng, Founder, Everyday Vegan Grocer

She is bent on conquering Southeast Asia eventually with stores around the region in her mission to make kindness an effortless choice daily and hence her mantra: “Choose kindness, everyday.”

The Everyday Vegan Discount Club is now flooding Singapore with an irresistible array of vegan groceries. Club members can enjoy these selections at exclusive discounted prices by signing up.
